While isolation can most of the time be boring, it also forces you to get creative. I don’t think I am alone in trying some home improvements /DIY during lockdown, mostly to fill time but also it can be really fun!

So for anyone who is interested I thought I would share my DIY no frame wall prints. This is great if you are a student with no money, especially if you are a graphic design student and want to print your art and have on your wall, or you just want something different.

I used some brown string with wood clippers as I really liked the rustic feel it had. However, any string will do. While I had them lying around at home, for those of you who don’t, you can get this set of string and wooden pegs from amazon. Its quite long so you can get creative and make other things with it.

I then experimented to create a pattern that might be appealing. While I went for a jigsaw pattern, having straight lines was also nice.

For those who have never heard of command strips, I urge you to get them now. We have used it for our entire flat, without having to ruin the walls. They are very strong and can be used in many different ways. We only needed half of a big command strips that was cut in slices, and used them behind the wooden pegs.

For the prints, I created most of them myself in adobe photoshop, mainly because it is much easier to get nice texture making it look hand drawn and artistic. But you can print anything you like.

These can be printed at home, as A4. I have a hp printer with a subscription to insta print, which for any graphic design student is amazing, since I only pay £7.99 per month for 300 prints and get free ink delivered to my door. The printer can be a bit temperamental but I can’t really complain, as its fairly cheap and I use it a lot.

For my wall I change the prints up every month when I do new artwork. Which is a fun way to show of your art.

Whenever I want to try something fun I just order fun photo paper, and it does come out great.

Anyway, I am very pleased with the result, and it cost me a total of £3.

For anyone who wants to buy these print: check out my redbubble. I am also in the process of getting these on my Etsy listing so you can download these yourself.
